Prescription Injectable Medication Storage and Administration Support

Many students take prescription injectable medications, some of which require refrigeration. If you are not yet ready to self-administer your prescription injectable medication, or don’t want to store it in your residence hall or home, University Health Services can help.

If you’d like to take advantage of this program:

  1. Fill out a Release of Information so we can get your medical records from your prescribing provider. This form is available on your MyUOHealth Portal under the "Forms" tab.
  2. Call University Health Services at 541-346-2770 and ask to speak with the nurses who run the prescription injectable medication program. The nurses will answer your questions and help you with all the next steps!

Important Details

Students must establish care with a UHS primary care provider who can then connect with your specialists and be your point person at UHS to coordinate care. This is a necessary step before we can accept any medications.

Your injectable medications must be shipped to University Health Services directly from a pharmacy or the manufacturer. UHS cannot accept medications shipped from other sources or provided by you directly.

What to Expect at Your Injection Visits

You can choose to just pick up your medication, self-administer your injection in our exam rooms (we encourage this!), or have a nurse do your injection for you. Our goal is to support patients in developing the ability to confidently and safely self-administer their medication on their own!

Prescription Infusion Medications

UHS cannot store or administer prescription infusion medications (medications that require intravenous access to administer). However, we can refer you to resources in the community if needed. Call us at 541-346-2770 to discuss your specific needs.
