Gambling can be recreational for some people, but it can also create financial, academic, relationship, or mental-health problems. If gambling is no longer feeling optional or is causing problems in your life, support is available.
If you choose to gamble:
- Set a money limit before you start and do not chase losses.
- Set a time limit and take breaks.
- Do not use money needed for rent, food, tuition, or other essentials.
- Avoid gambling when you are intoxicated or highly distressed.
- Balance gambling with other activities and notice if it begins crowding them out.
