Hosting a gathering? Planning ahead can reduce risk for you, your guests, and your neighbors. Think about who will stay sober, how guests will get home, what nonalcoholic options will be available, and what you will do if someone needs medical help.
Tips to the host
- Identify at least one sober host or monitor.
- Make water, nonalcoholic drinks, and food available.
- Plan for safe transportation before the event starts.
- If the event is connected to a student organization, review current UO and organization requirements.
- Know the signs of alcohol overdose and call 911 if you are concerned about someone’s safety.
