Collegiate Recovery Center

The University of Oregon Collegiate Recovery Center (CRC) provides non-clinical recovery support and community for students in recovery from substance use concerns. Students can connect with CRC staff, attend support groups, participate in substance-free events, and build relationships with other students in recovery. The CRC supports multiple pathways to recovery and is an institutional member of the Association of Recovery in Higher Education.

All UO students are welcome at CRC support groups. The group schedule is listed below and on our Instagram. Formal CRC membership is available to students who meet additional recovery criteria. To learn more, please schedule an initial consultation or email us!

Benefits of CRC membership include:

  • Access to the CRC lounge—a safe, supportive space where you can relax and recharge. This includes free snacks and printing!
  • Involvement in fun, sober events (on- and off-campus)

Parents and Families

Concerned about your student’s substance use or recovery? CRC staff can help families understand campus and community resources, recovery support options, and ways to support a student. Because student privacy rules may limit what staff can discuss about a particular student, these informal consultations focus on general guidance and aim to disseminate information about what the CRC offers and how to get involved. Contact recovery@uoregon.edu to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is recovery?

Recovery is a process of change in which people improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives, and work toward goals that matter to them. There is no single pathway to recovery, and people may use different combinations of peer support, mutual-aid groups, treatment, medication, counseling, community, and lifestyle change.

Do I have to be sober to use the CRC?

Any student may attend CRC support groups. Please do not show up under the influence. CRC membership and lounge access have additional recovery requirements. To learn more, schedule an initial consultation or email us!

Is the CRC counseling or treatment?

No. The CRC provides non-clinical recovery support, peer connection, and community. Students looking for therapy, assessment, or clinical treatment can connect with UO Counseling Services, University Health Services, or community providers.

What is CRC community life like?

Recovery can create more space for connection, hobbies, school, relationships, and new experiences. CRC members connect through support groups, meals, events, recreation, and informal time in the recovery lounge. You do not need to have recovery entirely figured out before you get involved.

Get Resources

A wide variety of resources exist to serve students in recovery and provide information to family and friends concerned about someone's substance use. Support groups, family programs, and sober-living houses are a few of the off-campus resources available to students and community members.
